This is a wide conversation between Dan Perell and Dr. Azza Karam about global governance, this moment in human history, and the role of religion at the local and international levels. It builds on the friendly relationship that the Bahá’í International Community has built with the current Secretary General of Religions for Peace, who herself is a former UN staff member.
Azza Karam
Dr. Karam currently is a member of the United Nations Secretary General’s High Level Advisory Board on Effective Multilateralism. Prior to joining Religions for Peace, she served for nearly two decades in the United Nations (UNDP and UNFPA), including as a Coordinator of the Arab Human Development Reports, a Senior Advisor on Culture, and Lead Facilitator/Trainer for the UN Strategic Learning Exchanges on Religion, Development and Diplomacy. During her time in the UN, she founded and was Convenor of the United Nations Inter-Agency Task Force on Religion and Development as well as the Multi-Faith Advisory Council of that Task Force.
Daniel Perell
Daniel Perell joined the Bahá’í International Community’s United Nations Office as a Representative in 2011. His areas of work include climate change and the environment as well as global governance. Dan holds a JD and an MA in Law and Diplomacy.
